Solstice skies
We were in Lapland just a few days before the Winter Solstice - the shortest day of the year took on a new meaning that far north. The hours of daylight may have been brief but the light was phenomenal, dancing across the clouds in a kaleidoscope of colours. 
 
 
In mid-December, I was beyond delighted to visit Lapland in northern Finland. It had always been a dream of mine to go. 
 
Staying on the edge of lake Toras-Sieppi, near the Pallas-Yllas National Park, the landscape was majestic and the tranquility magical. Stunning light, breathtaking scenery and sparkling snow in every direction. Perfect painting inspiration; I couldn’t wait to get started!
