The frozen lake
This mini landscape was my first palette knife painting of the year, seeing if I could recreate a similar scene to ‘Winter sun’ with the paints leftover on my palette. The view is looking south across the frozen lake Toras-Sieppi, as the sun rises and wakes up the sky. 
 
In mid-December, I was beyond delighted to visit Lapland in northern Finland. It had always been a dream of mine to go. 
 
Staying on the edge of lake Toras-Sieppi, near the Pallas-Yllas National Park, the landscape was majestic and the tranquility magical. Stunning light, breathtaking scenery and sparkling snow in every direction. Perfect painting inspiration; I couldn’t wait to get started!
